MW4 on Switch 2 — FPS, Gyro Settings & Storage

Docked and handheld frame ranges, gyro sensitivity you can copy verbatim, six graphics settings side by side, and the microSD Express requirement.

What the MW4 Switch 2 performance numbers actually mean: a locked 60 FPS at dynamic 1080p docked is the headline, and the 52 FPS Ground War dip is the asterisk. Handheld holds 60 until you switch to the battery-saver profile, which trades roughly 20 FPS for runtime. If you came from PC, read the resolution figures as the cost of admission rather than a defect — the MW4 Switch 2 performance target is frame-rate stability, not sharpness.

02 · MW4 Switch 2 Gyro Aim Settings

Gyro is the only way a Switch 2 player closes the gap with aim-assist on PS5 and Xbox. These are community-verified starting values — set them first, then tune by ±0.5 to taste.

Setting Value Unit Applicable Mode
Horizontal Sensitivity 3.5 step 6v6 / Gunfight
Vertical Sensitivity 2.0 step 6v6 / Gunfight
ADS Gyro Multiplier 0.65 multiplier all modes
Gyro Activation ADS Only — avoids accidental input while sprinting
Stick Deadzone 0.04 ratio for Hall-effect sticks

WHY A wider view catches flankers earlier, but past 110 targets get too small in handheld mode

Motion Blur
Off

WHY Turning it off keeps the view sharp while tracking and cuts GPU load

VRAM Scale

WHY High drops to 52 FPS in Ground War; medium is the right balance

MW4 on Switch 2 — Frequently Asked Questions

Does MW4 run at 60 FPS on Switch 2?
Media tests put it at a locked 60 FPS in both docked and handheld modes, with two caveats. Docked renders at dynamic 1080p with DLSS upscaling and dips to about 52 FPS in Ground War 32v32; handheld renders between 720p and 900p and drops to roughly 40 FPS in the battery-saver profile. Those are the outlets' numbers, dated on this page — we did not run the tests.
How much storage does MW4 need on Switch 2?
Around 95 GB for multiplayer plus HD textures, and it has to live on a microSD Express card. A standard microSD will not run the game — Express is a different interface, not a speed tier. That single requirement catches more people out on launch day than any performance question, so check the card before you buy the game.
Does MW4 support gyro aiming on Switch 2?
Yes, and it is the only platform in this cycle where gyro is a first-class input. The settings table on this page lists the five values that matter: horizontal and vertical sensitivity, the ADS gyro multiplier, activation mode and stick deadzone. ADS-only activation is the usual starting point because it stops the camera drifting while you sprint.
How long does the battery last playing MW4 handheld?
Roughly 2 hours 15 minutes of back-to-back 6v6 according to media testing, which is shorter than most Switch 2 titles because the game holds a 60 FPS target rather than dropping to 30. If you play in long sessions, the battery-saver profile is the lever — it costs frame rate but buys time.
Which video settings should I change first?
Shadow Quality to Low and Motion Blur to Off. Shadow Quality is the one setting that reliably returns 5–8 FPS with almost no readability cost, and motion blur off keeps the image sharp while you track. VRAM Scale at High is what pulls Ground War into the low 50s, so Medium is the safer default on this hardware.
What resolution does MW4 actually render at on Switch 2?
Dynamic, not native. Docked renders at 1080p with DLSS upscaling doing the heavy lifting, so the internal buffer drops below 1080p whenever the frame budget tightens and the upscaler rebuilds the image. Handheld moves between 720p and 900p on the same principle. In both modes the resolution is the variable and the frame rate is the constant — the reverse of what most PC settings menus do, and the reason the image softens in busy fights instead of the frame rate collapsing.
Is the 40 FPS battery-saver mode playable?
Playable, not competitive. The battery-saver profile is what buys the extra runtime, and 40 FPS costs you roughly a third of the frame budget — enough to feel in a close-range trade where reaction time matters. If you are playing a session for fun, it is fine. If you are playing ranked or Gunfight, stay on the standard profile and keep a charger nearby instead.
Is the Switch 2 version the same game as PC and console?
It is the same multiplayer build with the same 33 weapons, 21 maps and Apex Attachments, running on a fixed hardware target. What changes is what you can see: resolution drops, Ground War takes a frame-rate hit, and the install has to sit on Express storage. The weapon stats on this site are platform-agnostic, because the underlying values do not change per platform — only how comfortably you can read them.
